Hogs for Dogs 2011
For the Hogs 4 Dogs Poker 2011, Peggy, JR, Muffet, and I all met up at
the Thortons at the corner of LaGrange Rd. and Factory Ln. After filling up the
bikes, we headed on the Gene Snyder west bound to Bardstown Rd. Once on
Bardstown Rd. we made our way down to Two Lane Tavern which was the sign-in and
starting point for the ride this year. After signing in and drawing our first
card, plus buying some 50/50 tickets we had the opportunity to purchase some
shirts or hats supporting the ride and then it was time to get the kickstands up
and faces in the wind.
The first leg of the ride took us out Bardstown Rd. into Bardstown,
around the town square (circle) and heading out Hwy 150. Turning right onto Hwy
49 we rode through some of the nicest backroads in Ky to Hwy 68. The first leg
of the ride ended with us stopping at Poor Boys in Lebanon Ky. After some
refreshments we drew our next card and Julie and Kim (Using her big girl voice)
called out quite a few door prize tickets. This was the longest leg of the run
and covered approximatly 55 miles.
From Poor Boys we left and it was a short run (about 11 miles) to the
second stop which was Susie's Bottoms-Up in Raywick. Again the cards were drawn

and door prizes were given away. So now we've covered about 66 miles and its
time to move on to the next stop.
The third stop was another 24 country road miles to Holly's Last Chance.
The day was really warming up and a big thanks to Kim for toting Rochelle around
in the truck (support vehicle) taking care of the card draws and selling water
for those who needed it.(proceeds from the sales all went to the charity).
Leaving Holly's it was another 21 miles down Hwy 31E to the Bluegrass
Tavern. The cards were drawn and door prizes were given away, and after a
brief rest we were on the road to our last stop.
Another 25 miles and we found ourselves in Sheperdsville Kentucky at our
final destination the Escape Bar and Grill. We drew our cards and got last
chance 50/50 raffle tickets and settled in for the festivities. They had a
silent auction with plenty of great items. We stuck around after the ride and
had some food and listened to some live music before heading back another 50
miles to home.
This was a very good event for a great cause. Hopefully it will continue to
get even bigger and better over the years. Im not sure of the total amount
raised for the charity but i do know that the 50/50 went for $ 212.00...
Special thanks should go out to everyone who did the blocking....and to Mike
for leading the ride...and Julie for all the hard work that she put into
this...sorry I dont know everyone's name that helped ....but thanks.....and hope
to see you next year.
